How to properly install the gasket

Sealing gaskets are commonly used sealing parts for machinery, equipment, etc., and are materials for sealing. From this definition, it is not difficult to know how important the gasket is, so how to install the gasket is worth our attention. The correct installation can guarantee the sealing performance and make the equipment run smoothly, otherwise it will damage the gasket.

The correct installation of the gasket should be carried out in the flange connection structure or the threaded connection structure, the static sealing surface and the gasket are inspected undoubtedly, and the other valve parts are intact.

1. Before the gasket is installed, the sealing surface, the gasket, the thread and the rotating part of the bolt and nut should be coated with a layer of graphite powder or graphite powder. The wetting agent, gasket and graphite should be kept clean with oil (or water).

2, the gasket is installed on the sealing surface to be in the middle, correct, can not be skewed, can not protrude into the valve cavity or on the shoulder.

3, the installation gasket is only allowed to install one piece, it is not allowed to install two or more pieces between the sealing surfaces to eliminate the insufficient gap between the two sealing surfaces.

4. The sealing of the elliptical gasket should be such that the inner and outer rings of the gasket are in contact with each other, and the two end faces of the gasket must not be in contact with the bottom of the groove.

5, O-ring installation, in addition to the ring and groove should meet the design requirements, the amount of compression should be appropriate, under the premise of ensuring the seal, the compression deformation rate is as small as possible, can extend the life of the o-ring.

6, before the gasket is in the upper cover, the valve should be in the open position, so as not to affect the installation and damage of the valve. When aligning the cover, do not use the push-pull method to contact the gasket to avoid displacement and scratching of the gasket.

7. For bolted or threaded gaskets, the gasket should be placed in a horizontal position (threaded gasket cover, pipe wrench without wrench).

8. Before the gasket is pressed, the pressure, temperature, properties of the medium, and the material properties of the gasket should be clearly understood to determine the preload. The pre-tightening force should be kept as small as possible without the pressure test.

9. After the gasket is tightened, ensure that the connecting piece has a pre-tightened clearance to provide room for pre-tightening when the gasket leaks.

10, when working at high temperature, the bolt will produce high temperature creep, resulting in stress relaxation, increased deformation, resulting in leakage at the gasket, requiring heat tightness; conversely, under low temperature conditions, the bolt will shrink and need to be cold.

11. When the sealing surface is made of liquid gasket, the sealing surface should be cleaned or surface treated. The flat sealing surface should be consistent after grinding, the coating adhesive should be uniform, and the air should be excluded as much as possible. The adhesive layer is generally 0.1-0.2mm.

12. When using Teflon film tape for thread sealing, firstly pull the film starting point thinly and stick it on the thread surface, then remove the excess tape at the starting point, so that the film stuck on the thread is wedge-shaped.
