Application and installation of graphite packing

Graphite packing is mainly made of various reinforcing fibers, metal wires (steel wire, copper wire, nickel wire) and other reinforced graphite wires. Suitable for static sealing under high temperature and high pressure conditions. In addition to a few strong oxidants, it can be used to seal hot water, superheated steam, heat transfer fluids, ammonia solutions, hydrocarbons, cryogenic liquids and other media. It is also a unique universal sealing packing.

Graphite packing has many subdivided products: expanded graphite packing, flexible graphite packing, nickel wire graphite packing, stainless steel wire graphite packing, high temperature resistant packing, high temperature and high pressure graphite packing, etc.

Graphite packing application:

In addition to a few strong oxidizing media, graphite packing removes hot water, high temperature, high pressure steam, heat exchange medium, hydrogen, ammonia, organic solvents, hydrocarbons, cryogenic liquids, etc., used in petroleum, power plants, chemical, steel plants. Sealing of valves in industrial fields.

1. It is especially suitable for all kinds of equipment under high temperature and high pressure and harsh environment.

2. Applied to other media besides strong acid, strong alkali and strong oxidant.

3. Especially suitable for working conditions under higher temperature and high pressure conditions.

4. Long service life, greatly improve work efficiency and reduce downtime.

Installation of graphite packing:

1. Install one packing (filler ring) at a time, making sure that each packing is free of dust or other debris. If necessary, apply a cleaning lubricant to the packing ring, shaft or stem to lubricate. Multiple rings are staggered when used, and the incisions of each packing are staggered by 90 degrees. When installing the ring, pull it slowly in the axial direction. The radial distance is such that the ring can be attached to the shaft. Use a filling tool to fasten each packing ring. When sufficient packing ring is installed, close it with the follower and use the follower to increase the tightness. The follower is only a supplement to ensure proper seating of all packing rings and to avoid packing movement.

2. In the reciprocating pump, the guide ring should be placed at both ends and in the middle of the stuffing box to maintain its concentric motion and the gravity of the plunger.

3. After installing the packing ring, tighten the bolts. In order to achieve consistent pressure on each nut, it is recommended to tighten the nut with a wrench or associated metering device. Please note: If the device is in a leak-free state at this time, it may cause the packing to burn. It is recommended to open the pump and then slowly tighten the bolt until the leak reaches the allowable range.

4. Rotary and reciprocating pump start

1) Before the operation, first run under no-load condition, observe whether there is any abnormality, and then officially drive, carefully observe, whether there is any false or too tight pressure, resulting in serious leakage or burning of the filler.

2) After installing the packing ring, tighten the bolt and confirm that the material cover is properly engaged with the packing box surface. Once the bolts are tightened, ensure that the bolts are evenly stressed.

3) If an external lubrication system (cooling water rinse) is applied, be sure to operate normally before starting.

4) High leakage leakage is allowed at start-up. During this process, it is only necessary to confirm that the packing is in place and starts to function.

5) After running for about 15-30 minutes, tighten the bolt several times until the leak reaches the range. It is recommended to discharge 18-30 points/min.

Preparation of the graphite packing before installation:

1. Remove old packing Check the stuffing box is the key to the pre-installation preparation.

2. Before using the filler, remove all the old fillers with special tools and wipe the stuffing box clean.

3. Observe the damage and eccentricity of each part of the stuffing box. The damaged valve stem, bushing and stuffing box can affect the packing performance.

4. Check if other components are still applicable. Replace all broken parts.

5. Adjust the bearings to be concentric, such as disagreement, need to be adjusted or replaced.

6. Check if the pump or the stirred tank is vibrating and adjust to a smooth running state.
